Many elements come together here to carry us to Ibiza, and specifically the olive groves of the Es Trull de Can Miquel Guasch. This estate is one of the largest producers of extra-virgin olive oil on the island, faststone and Arbequina, faststone Picual and Empeltre olive trees fill its lands.
The father and sons that run the Guasch family business decided to innovate and open an Oleoteca, or tasting site, in rural Ibiza. The idea was to create a space that would be a haven of peace, encircled by olive groves and nestled in the natural beauty of the island. The name, Ses Escoles, comes from the building s previous purpose as the region s school.
Tradition and knowledge of local artisanal crafts were central to developing a project that would be both detailed and strongly bound to Ibizan culture. The space offers tastings and also sells products and artisanal faststone work from the surrounding faststone area.
The design seeks to bring multiple experiences to life. A charming entrance allows visitors to taste products, sharing a table. There is also a dining room centred around a biomass stove, and a large bar in the heart of the building. The oleoteca also spills outdoors onto a patio covered with woven plants, reminiscent of the esparto grass and palm textiles typical of Ibiza.

The selected approach removes all obstacles from the floor to provide the greatest possible flexibility. Two basic elements are used: firstly, the central core, comprising the staircase, some shelves and the larder. The core is at the centre of the main space under the mansard roof. It connects the access floor and the space under the roof and allows the natural lighting coming through the roof into the living room. Secondly, there are two side strips for the functional elements (kitchen, bathroom, storage space and domestic appliances). This basic arrangement is complemented by two strategies that provide flexibility to the domestic spaces.
Firstly, the moving panels that are integrated into the core and run along guide rails. These panels can be used to create different arrangements, such as adding an extra room for a guest, separating the kitchen from the living room area or opening the whole floor for a party. The panels have transparent sections so that the natural lighting coming through the mansard roof can reach this space.
Secondly, the secret trap doors that are integrated into the ceiling of the access floor and into the floor of the mezzanine and that house the rest of the domestic functions. The ceiling doors are opened with handles fitted on the walls. These handles actuate pulleys that lower part of the furniture (such as tables and the picnic benches, a swing or the hammock) or some complementary functions and objects (such as the disco ball, the fans to chill out on the hammock or an extra shelf for the guest room). In addition, the floor of the space under the roof has a series of invisible doors that can be opened to alter the functionality of the raised space where the bedroom area is (these spaces house the dressing table, the tea room and the storage spaces for the bathroom).

Villa Roces is integrated in an oblong terrain of about 70m long and 30m wide, situated in the forest surroundings of Bruges. Vétroz, in the heart of the valais, boasts 170 hectares of vineyards. maison germanier, which dates from 1850, was originally the home of a wine grower and stands on a beautifully sunny, sloping site among the vines of the pays de l amigne . the present codec pack owner of the building wanted to have it renovated.

Urban and Public The Philharmonic Concert Hall is located in the heart of Szczecin, close to the river that shaped the history of this city. After decades shrink of difficulties, Szczecin is now in an important moment of transition. shrink With its great historical background in mind, the city is now looking with an open view towards the future. The Philharmonic Hall is the emphasis shrink of this change. The Philharmonic Hall is build on the historical site of the old Konzerthaus that was demolished during the Second World War. The new concert building creates a link to this cultural past and is a new architecture open to the city and its visitors. The project aims to be present in the urban landscape, a reference building that people can identify and orientate with. People can easily meander from the big plaza in front of the building towards the spacious entrance hall of the philharmonic building, creating a continuous dialogue between the building and its surrounding.
Essential and Expressive The Philharmonic Hall aspires to a pure and clear architecture, which condenses its strength in a few expressive elements. The new building adopted the vocabulary of the city s historical shrink fac ades and the surrounded urban landscape. The project extrudes from the shapes of the typical steep roofs, the vertical divisions of the urban blocks, the churches neo-Gothic adornments and the picturesque towers scattered through the old city centre. The new building emerges, both in volumetric language as materiality, from the nearby shipyards with its industrial architecture of masts, cranes, etc. The Philharmonic Hall is gradually being configured by the sum of all this. Its towering shapes defines the structure of the entire volume. Like a musical composition, its build up from small scale elements which together form a whole. It finds a balance between mass and verticality, looking for a new rhythm, between the abstract and emotion. The project shrink clad in translucent shrink glass strives to emphasises a contrast to its immediate environment. It looks like an immense crystal, a vibrant and almost transparent object whose appearance keeps changing with the reflections of the seasons, the sky and the city. The Philharmonic Hall will be an entirely new accent in the old city centre, symbolizing Szczecin s transition.
Function and Use The Philharmonic Hall is mainly shrink focused on musical and cultural performances. This program will not only be performed in the concert halls but spread out all over the building. The different scales and variations of public spaces, acoustic claddings and studied illumination create the possibility that all spaces can be used as a scenario of different kinds of spectacles shrink and cultural events. The monumental entrance hall is a large empty space with lots of daylight entering from the skylights in the roof. The hall is shaped by the volumes of the two concert halls and a theatrical staircase. This staircase is a spatial experience in itself, bringing users through the different levels of the building. Passing from the entrances to the concert halls, by the elegant VIP room to a spectacular shrink multifunctional space just below the pitched roof. This multifunctional space can be used for exhibitions, conferences or other cultural events and has big voids that create views and interactions with the entrance hall. The concert halls are thought as two boxes suspended inside the building. Different foyers are organised around these volumes creating a spacial route through the building. The main symphonic hall seats 951 people to enjoy the pleasures of making and listening to music. The space appears as a warm, golden space with the charm of an classical concert shrink hall. The impressive triangular shapes on the walls and ceiling are designed to create a sublime acoustic. Like in the entrance hall natural light can enter from big skylights at the front and backside of the symphonic hall. This natural light changes shrink the golden surface of along the seasons. The chamber hall has a capacity of 192 seats. This black box has a simple curved ceiling and can host all kind of small concerts and performances. A big window at the back of the audience brings natural light in the space. The new building is the residence of the Philharmonic orchestra of Szczecin including all its functions of repetition spaces, changing rooms, administration.
Material and Technology shrink The fac ade of the Philharmonic Hall is designed to achieve a homogeneous appearance, both by day as by night. The vertical shapes defines the structure of the entire volume shrink of the building and is reflected in the silhouette of the building as a whole. The region of Karst was once covered with Oak trees that Venetians have extensively used for building up the City on water. They have left the wind to peel off earth revealing jwplayer limestone grounds. In this landscape the tradition of small, compact, stony and almost windowless houses developed and remained until today.
Following this tradition determined the design of small compact stony house corresponding to the needs of the young family and current technological principles. Redefinition of traditional stony Karst house led to the concept of proto-house as compact, stony, pitched jwplayer roof volume for contemporary countryside living jwplayer in this region. The house is conceived as monolithic volume with two inserted wooden volumes connected with interim landing. Ground floor operates mostly as public or semi-public space with multiple grand landscape views as on the other hand the upper floor stands very private with sky views only. The space is divided with two inserted wooden volumes which in ground floor contain kitchen jwplayer with dining or bathroom and in the upper floor master bedroom jwplayer and children s room. House in a house concept allow each bedroom to perform as primarily wooden pitched house, where one literally jwplayer feels like sleeping in his own (symbolic) house and not a room. The bridge connecting both houses acts as playroom.
The house has three large square windows which open views towards hilltop church jwplayer in Italy to the west, forest to the south and entrance platform to the east. The redefinition of traditional stony Karst roof, with its texture, colour, material and its steep inclination is executed as contemporary concrete interpretation with intense technological ingenuity. Materially inseparable connection between the facade and the roof is key allusion to the image of traditional Karst village.
The design of the house addresses the relationship between contemporary and tradition, it opens up the question about the characteristics of anonymous traditional built architecture from which it originates and simultaneously establishes the relationship between contemporary interpretation and traditionally conditional domain of synthesis.

In Toulouse, near the airport and the river Garonne. A housing development that seeks to optimize the living conditions of each of its cells. The whole is broken down to prioritize the meeting with the domestic rather than insisting on the abstraction of the idea.
A complex of four independent but conceptually connected volumes (A, B, C and D) arranged around a semi-private garden. A formalizes the street leading to it, its volume exaggerating the perspective. B is detached, in the middle; it has to reflect light inwards. C twists its volume to construct the corner. D is lower (three storeys) and light. It encloses the complex at the rear gently, like a fence. A, B and C are finished in black and white brick, mkv in varying but complementary propor tions. A, on the street mkv tarmac, is mainly black (80% black, mkv 20% white). B, designed to reflect, is its opposite (80% white, 20% black). C, at the corner, is balanced (50% white, 50% black). A, B and C all have zinc roofs with the same pitch, which slide down the rear fac ade in B. D, light and soft, has wood.
Based on this reasoning, mkv the buildings were constructed mkv with emphasis on the expressive capacity of artisan work as a sensible framework for human relations. The garden is a recreation, using characteristic materials (gravels, sands …) and vegetation (poplars…), of the meander of the nearby river Garonne.

This particular place is known as a space of architectural reference in the entire universe of the Coimbra University. This requalification was an intervention catia carvalho with an area of approximately of 6.000 sq. m. This space stays in the Upper City of Coimbra and it was used as a car parking which partly justifies extensive gravel coating on its surface catia carvalho giving catia carvalho it an overly harsh ambience. catia carvalho
One of the ideas to this space was safeguard the existing archaeological underground heritage. That was important to ensure and reinforce the institutional scale that is inherent to it; simultaneously it induces a more welcoming and comfortable character.
It is proposed in this intervention a large restraint and subtlety which preserves much of the existing surface by invoking the ancient courtyard of arms, including the magnificent peripheral stone flagstones, a noble and peaceful catia carvalho yard of gravel which defines a serene catia carvalho network of paths connecting all remarkable points of the Palace.
The pavement of this network of paths is constituted as an irregular pattern that articulates with the geometric catia carvalho diversity from the surrounding pavement, giving to this space the perception that everything is unifying and a distinctly institutional scale.
The stones used in the new paths, or crosswalks and in gutters surface is equal to the current existing one in the Patio. The gutters from the drainage system, which were severely damaged with time, have been fully remade with concrete channels topped with a perforated catia carvalho stone finish. The stones gutters were drilled to enable the eventual installation of a misting system that will soften the Courtyard which becomes extremely hot during the summer months
The channel height is also reduced to a minimum in order to minimize the depth of excavation or to subcontract to create boxes for paving stone and gravel. It is also planned to plant two small lines of trees along the facade catia carvalho of St. Peter’s College. It will allow that many users and visitors catia carvalho of the Patio find a welcome shade, giving the opportunity to chat on a quiet place while enjoying the great beauty of the space or dazzling a magnificent view of the Mondego River Valley.

The castle of the Portuguese city of Pombal testifies to the power of time as the main contributor for the transformation of the built environment. The top of a hill overlooking the valley of the Arunca river has been occupied since the time of the Roman empire, and since then performed multiple roles and configured very many spatial and social 3gp practices. From a small provincial community, it evolved to a vital defensive structure in a territorial network of military apparatus, and eventually became a touristic destination and an identifying device for the region. After designing the reorganization of Pombal castle’s hill, comoco arquitectos were commissioned the design of a visitor centre for the castle s ward, including the landscaping of the area and the revitalization of the amenities already installed in the Torre de Menagem (the castle s keep).
The main challenge of the commission was the definition of a design strategy that could live up to the richness of the castle’s multi-layered history, without being neither ostensive nor subdued, i.e. finding its voice among the very many built artifacts that populate that space. To be sure, we understand these artifacts, most of them ruins or derelicts of the past, as parts of the collective memory that we would like to critically preserve and, furthermore, 3gp to enhance. This was the drive that established the fundamental principles that guided our design approach.
The design strategy 3gp for the landscaping of the castle’s ward and for the revitalization 3gp of the castle’s keep was relatively straightforward. As for the earlier, we recuperated the still-existing pavements in limestone cobbles and filled in the remnant parts with gravel. In the latter, we introduced minor changes 3gp to the railings in the cor-ten steel volume 3gp and designed the layout and furniture to the exhibition spaces that occupy the rooms of the tower. The main challenge of the commission was designing 3gp the new volume to accommodate the visitor centre. The brief for this amenity stated that it should offer three spaces: a reception for the visitors, a room to screen a virtual history of the castle and a storage area.
As the area of the castle’s ward is relatively small (1200 m2), and populated with many elements, introducing a new volume implied an inevitable confrontation with the existing elements that define that space. At any event, this circumstance became the driving force to develop the project’s main idea. We thought of the new volume as an object that should 3gp embody some ambiguity: on the one hand it should seamlessly mingle with the exiting features in the castle’s ward, and on the other hand it should become a conspicuous new addition to the existing built structures. In other words, we sought for a creative dialogue with the situation “as found,” attempting to take advantage of the new construction to activate dormant spatial experiences.
The program was compacted to the minimum and the volume was shaped in such a way as to make it a spatial device inspired by the tectonics of the castle’s stone masonry, especially the stairs connecting 3gp the platforms inside the castle s precinct. In fact, the new volume creates a new platform that enables the access to the level of the 16th century Manuelino-style windows pierced on the southwest side of the castle’s 3gp curtain wall. It creates a liminal space that re-enacts the spatial experience of the castle as a device to exert control over the landscape at the same time that it performs 3gp as a safe haven for those looking for protection from the threat of the unknown. Our design strategy for Pombal castle’s visitor centre pursues a deliberate ambiguous condition between a topographical feature – a limestone monolith, and an amiable wanderer, a stranger 3gp in search of a welcoming new home to rest. Located in the heart of Belgium, a house, an abode, a peaceful and welcoming place with a contemporary and informal character is inserted perfectly in its rural surroundings. A project made up of several nuclei: a main building image resizer and two barns have all been rebuilt to reminisce the old farm. Its only restriction was to build the new volumes on the existing footprint. The concept was to retain and acknowledge the simple shape of the rural building (a long extended image resizer volume, built perpendicular to the road and with a 45 slope tympanum image resizer roof); an inspiration from the Flemish regional farm, where one side of the building faces the small central courtyard (with the midday sun) and the other opens the view onto fields.
Reference to the simple, iconic, traditional building remains however with an added contemporary approach of the study of form without ornamentation, the use of materials and attention to detail. The facade of these buildings summarizes this concept; gutters and chimneys are invisible in its abstract form, doors and thresholds are not made of traditional stone and a complete wood façade (referring in original barns) wrap each volume including the roof.
After careful analysis of the client s brief, VVDA decided not to refurbish the two original barns but to build two new volumes imitating the barns . All volumes based on the same shape of the main building, strengthening further image resizer the conceptual idea of the project. The abstract shape of the three volumes at a first sight do not seem to be well-established in its rural context, however after entering the courtyard along a covered path and analyzing the surrounding structures and extent of the entire project, one feels completely absorbed into tradition and the presence of the volumes.
